Grants

At its August 18, 2025, meeting, the McHenry City Council approved the Business Improvement Grant Program.  The program features a 50% matching grant on a first-come, first-considered basis. Grant amounts are determined through a three-tier system from $5,000 to $25,000 based on established criteria, consolidating both the prior Façade Grant and Commercial Tenant Incentives into one program, which also broadens eligibility to include interior building improvements.  This approach reflects trends observed among Riverwalk Shops tenants transitioning into brick-and-mortar locations and other small businesses, which often face high costs for life safety and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance improvements.  Please view the information packet for requirements and criteria and use the Submit Online button below to apply for the grant.
